Friday 27th of January 2012, imagining a tailor-made industrial landscape:Symposium Me Craft / You Industry from 10.30 am – 4.30 pm at Zuiderzeemuseum, Enkhuizen.
In
the symposium Me Craft / You Industry, we examine the evolution of
industry from modern mass production to industrial crafts. Questions such as 'What values can be exchanged between craft and industry, in the
21st century? and 'What is the design potential of current scientific and technological innovations?' are raised.
The following guests will speak about the future of making and
industry: art historian, artist and curator Iftikhar Dadi (Cornell
University, USA), philosopher Henk Oosterling (Erasmus University and
founder of Rotterdam Vakmanstad), architect, designer and researcher
Fiona Raby (Royal College of the Arts, London, co-founder Dunne &
Raby ) researcher and program coordinator Christian Bolck (Wageningen
UR, Department of Biobased Products), software developer, writer, hacker
and activist Smári McCarthy (Iceland) and designer Jurgen Bey (Studio
Makkink & Bey and director Sandberg Institute). Designers Sonja
Bäumel, Dries Verbruggen en Tim Simpson, who've participated in the
exhibition, will also join in the discussions. The program was compiled
by designer / researcher Sophie Krier, Hans Kennepohl perform as
moderator. Both the exhibition and symposium will serve as the basis for
a publication, made in collaboration with Premsela.
